Former Katanning student Hamuera (Sam) Ropitini completed an 18 month training course to become the plant’s new slaughter floor superintendent late in 2017. He takes over responsibility for around 80 slaughter floor employees at Katanning, from Cecil Kells, who has returned to New Zealand after 18 years in the superintendent’s role.
Brodie Lange is WAMMCO’s new Katanning Lairage Manager, having joined the cooperative in October 2017. A former Harvey Agricultural College graduate, Brodie has worked on a SW dairy farm, and as manager for a fast food chain before moving to Katanning.
Both Sam and Brodie are due to marry local partners in 2018.
