Plant Manager’s Summer Report
The past year has required adjustment and resilience across the industry, with rising livestock costs, market volatility, and increased inputs placing pressure on margins throughout the supply chain. Despite these challenges, strong demand has continued to highlight the value of the high-quality stock produced by WAMMCO members.
Throughout the year, WAMMCO has focused on disciplined cost management while maintaining competitive returns and long-term sustainability. Encouraging progress has been made in areas within our control, particularly in safety, where a stronger focus on consistency, accountability, and engagement has helped build positive momentum across the business.
We also achieved successful outcomes from supplier and regulatory audits, reinforcing confidence in WAMMCO’s systems, compliance, and reliability as a trusted supply chain partner.
Operational investment has remained a priority, with key water-saving initiatives progressing, including the commissioning of the reverse osmosis plant. Equipment upgrades, such as the shoulder puller and chine bone machine, have improved reliability, safety, and processing efficiency.
Looking ahead, planning continues on major projects including the new kill floor, VRT and refrigeration upgrades, fire protection systems, and lairage improvements. These investments, supported by the strength of our cooperative model, position WAMMCO well to manage ongoing challenges and take advantage of future opportunities.
Kind regards,
Marc Chambers
