Strong Supply and Quality Continues for WAMMCO
The quality of lamb being delivered to WAMMCO over the summer and early autumn period has been extremely pleasing, with growers making the most of favourable seasonal conditions and strong livestock prices.
From January through to early April, the Co-operative has seen solid numbers of lambs come through the plant. This consistent supply has been a credit to producers, and their ongoing efforts are greatly appreciated. Continued improvements at the processing plant are also helping WAMMCO manage increased throughput while supply remains strong.
Encouragingly, there are signs that some growers who have previously reduced flock numbers are now retaining breeding stock to rebuild. This positions the industry well for future growth, and WAMMCO is confident that recent and ongoing plant upgrades will ensure capacity to handle increased lamb and mutton numbers in the seasons ahead.
Looking forward, WAMMCO has recently contacted growers and agents regarding booking requests for the June to August period. The forward booking system continues to play an important role, allowing the Co-op to better market product while giving producers greater certainty and the ability to prepare stock knowing space has been secured. Spring booking requests are expected to be released in the coming months.
WAMMCO also maintains a strong network of feedlotters across the state. These operators assist by purchasing surplus stock and supporting a more consistent year-round supply of lamb. Growers interested in learning more about feedlot opportunities are encouraged to contact their local WAMMCO buyer.
WAMMCO would like to sincerely thank all growers for their continued support and looks forward to working together into the future
Best regards,
Mike Curnick, Livestock Manager
