WAMMCO to return $6.1 million to loyal WA producer members

The WA Meat Marketing Co-operative will return a strong $6.1 million in rebates to its producer members this year. This follows on from the record $21.8m returned to producer members last year and equates to an average payout of $0.75/kg for lambs and $0.375/kg for mutton over the past two seasons.
WAMMCO, which is Australia’s biggest sheep and lamb co-operative, announced on Tuesday the $6.1m would be returned via pool bonuses to its hundreds of producer members at the end of August 2025.
It will include 30c/kg for all qualifying lambs, and 15c/kg for all qualifying mutton, on deliveries to WAMMCO’s Katanning abattoir by about 800 contributing members.
It takes the total payout of pool bonuses by WAMMCO over the past 12 years to $67.45m.
WAMMCO Group Chief Executive Coll MacRury said, “the rebate was another deserved reward to our loyal and committed shareholders, and we are proud of our continued history of paying out consistently strong rebates over the past 15 years”.
Last season was not without challenges, in what can only be described as very volatile and unsettled world markets. But we worked extremely hard for our shareholders to process record processing numbers through most of the 2024/25 season, which culminated in the largest processing numbers ever achieved at Katanning.
WAMMCO continues to focus on the future challenges facing the Australian red meat industry, and particularly our WA shareholder members’ future processing requirements. I am pleased to say that our new lamb and mutton processing line in Katanning continues to take shape and at this stage we are on track for our new line to be up and processing in November 2025.
WAMMCO’s 2024-25 financial year result will be announced at its annual general meeting at the Borden Pavilion on Thursday 16th October 2025.
